Blackberry Curve 8310 loss of address book contacts

I encountered a recent problem with my Blackberry where the phone automatically started deleting my old contacts. I initially had 463 contacts whereas now I have only 65. I have a 2GB memory card. Luckily I perform regular backups of my blackberry using the Blackberry Device Manager on my personal desktop computer. Here I encountered a second problem as the Blackberry Desktop Manager did not allow me to copy the Database of my Address Book Contacts into my phone through a data cable, insisting I do so wirelessly. I have a lot of important business contacts stored in the back up address book that I need on a day to day basis so I would really appreciate any help on this topic as soon as possible. Please help me out guys!
